Driving directions from the tunnel:
When you reach Acapulco, take the tunnel and follow signs to Acapulco and “Costera Miguel Aleman”. Do not follow signs to Aeropuerto or Diamante. When you reach Acapulco Bay take a right (this is the “Costera”) and go on for several kilometers, past Papagallo Park and a huge Mexican flag, Soriana store and Aurrera. Up ahead you will see a sign that says “Pie de la Cuesta” and you take a right on to the yellow bridge.
We suggest you call the villa then 744 446 0708 and say you are 10 minutes away, so they will come and open the main gate.
Continue 5km
You will see a small hotel called “Hotel del Derrumbe” on the right and a few small seafood restaurants on your left along with a restaurant/bar called “El Mirador del Derrumbe”.
At “El Mirador del Derrumbe” carefully turn off the highway to your left and just past the restaurant entrance there is a small road going in the same direction you were travelling. Directly in front of you is a small yellow gate. Emilio will be waiting for you there if you called ahead.

Tips for your stay.
[/expand]Meals: Anita is a wonderful cook and has a wide variety of meals that she can prepare. She prepares your breakfast between 8 and 11. In Mexico, lunch, the main meal of the day, is eaten between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. Anita will prepare those two meals for you, breakfast and lunch. If you wish to have her prepare snacks for the evening that you can heat and serve yourself, you can work out an arrangement with her. Her working hours are from 7 to 6 so she is not available to prepare and serve your evening dinner. Her husband Emilio will do your shopping for you, he goes to the markets daily for the freshest sea foods, fruits and vegetables.
Smoking: Smoking is allowed but not in the bedrooms.
Pets: Small pets are allowed, a damage deposit is required.
Taxis: We can arrange transport from the airport or bus station; let us know your arrival time and we can have a car or van pick you up at the airport. We use taxis often, by the trip, by the hour or day. We have used these same drivers for 20 years and they are reasonable in price. Please tell Anita and she can call one for you.
Whale Watching: If you are visiting during January February and March, watch for whales from the terraces.
Bird Watching: Many colorful and interesting species can be seen from our terraces and garden. The peninsula in front of the villa is home to many more. Pie de la Cuesta has many more species of waterfowl. See the information about the boat tours below.
Massage: Another more relaxing suggestion is to take a fabulous, soothing massage at the Villa with Antoinette, cell: 744 169 4936.
Tips: Tips are a significant portion of the income of the average Mexican. We don’t require that you tip the staff but we ask that you do. One hundred pesos per day for each member of your group is a fair tip for the three staff workers, half of this amount will go to the cook and the rest to the maid and errand boy.
Beaches:
Playa Mimosa, I have been visiting Acapulco and Pie de la Cuesta for over 30 years and love the area and my villa. Our villa overlooks our beach, Playa Mimosa, you can easily walk down to the beach. Walking back up is more difficult and only for the healthy. On calm days our beach is safe to swim but not when the surf is up.
Acapulco Bay (5 km to the south)has miles of calm waters and sandy beaches. We go to one of the hotels and rent an umbrella for 50 pesos when we have guests with children who want to swim in the ocean
Pie de la Cuesta has a 10 kilometer beach for walking and sun bathing but usually it has high surf and is difficult and dangerous for swimming.
Pie de la Cuesta:
I strongly suggest visiting “Pie de la Cuesta”, a resort area between the Pacific and a lagoon called Coyuca. We often go to Pie de la Cuesta for water skiing, boating, wildlife viewing, bird watching, surf sports, sun bathing and the restaurants and bars. Here you can rent a boat and go skiing. The water is warm and very calm. If you aren’t into water sports, you can rent the boat to take a tour of the lagoon. There are many types of wildlife to see and islands to visit. I recommend renting a boat at the ski club ‘Tres Marias’, ask for the boat driver Arturo, he can take you to the island Aldegundo where one can eat a delicious fish and shrimp cooked in the local style or just drink a ‘Nanches mezcal’ which originates from this area. We also like him to take us to the northernmost end of the lake. Here the barrier island is very narrow and at times water passes from the ocean to the lagoon.
On the Pacific side of Pie de la Cuesta, a little further along from ‘Tres Marias’, you will find a small hotel called “Vayma”. Here children can play in the pools and adults can have a drink, eat and watch the sunset.
Roqueta Island:
This island offers a popular (crowded) beach, snorkeling and diving possibilities. You can rent snorkeling gear, kayaks and more. From Playa Caleta, boats make the eight-minute trip (M$60 return) regularly. Alternatively, glass-bottomed boats (by the company Yates Fondo Cristal) make a circuitous trip (M$90) from here or the zócalo , pointing out celebrity dwellings, sea life and the Virgen de los Mares , a submerged bronze Virgin statue. Visibility varies. The trip takes about 45 minutes, depending on how many times floating vendors approach your boat.
Fort of San Diego:
The Fort of San Diego (Spanish: Fuerte de San Diego), formerly also known as the Fort of San Carlos is a star fort in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. It was built by the Spanish Empire, and it was one of the most important Spanish fortifications along the Pacific coast. The fort was first built-in the 17th century, but was completely rebuilt in the 18th century. Today, it is an important landmark in Acapulco, and it is open to the public as the Acapulco Historic Museum.
La Quebrada, Cliff Divers:
La Quebrada, Acapulco, is the site of the famous cliff divers performance. Since 1934 this has been one of Mexico’s feature attractions. The divers leap from cliffs 136 feet above the crashing Pacific, landing in an 11 feet deep inlet. There are five performances daily, including four evening shows, performed with divers carrying torches – an unforgettable spectacle. Best viewing is from La Perla Nightclub at the Cliffside El Mirador Acapulco (a cover charge applies).
Anyone who has watched Acapulco’s cliff divers plunge the 136 feet to the crashing sea may wonder how difficult a task this may be. Jorge Monico Ramirez Vasquez, member of a three-generation family of cliff divers, says, “Timing is the key. Three seconds it takes to arrive at the sea. Only five seconds of high waves tide – a two second span for any error.”
Jorge works out from 8 to 10 am for his twice daily plunge into the water, five times a week. Meditation and prayer is also part of his routine. Each time fear precedes the dive no matter how much practice or experience. If the diver starts his career at 17 and ends it at 45, he will take 15,560 plunges into the Quebrada during that time. Many cliff divers have been involved in accidents, most caused by the strong impact with the water. Remarkably, no deaths have been recorded.
Deep Sea Fishing: For two or three fishermen, I have used an experienced captain that I can recommend. For larger groups, this captain can make arrangements for larger boats.I hope you enjoy your stay!

Far above our expectations!
Amazing views+ comfortably rooms+roomy living spaces+ thoughtful service+ delicious meals= The best Acapulco experience. We cannot overstate the fun and relaxation of this lovely Villa. We are so grateful and will be back soon!

Spectacular
Even though it was just my husband and I at this 6 bedroom villa, it was absolutely perfect. There are three levels to hang out on, and each one unique and beautiful in it’s own way. We seemed to use all of them equally, from the top terrace, to the pool, to the shady palapa – all providing spectacular views of the beach below, rugged and beautiful. The sound of crashing waves at all times was a real pleasure, as was the hospitality of all of our hosts. We were absolutely taken care of in every way, even though we struggled through our Spanish, our stay was a breeze and we enjoyed Anita’s cooking every day.
We came for the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis, a professional tennis tournament (which I highly recommend if you can score tickets!), and even though it was a 45 minute drive, we were set up with a driver who was always on time and on call when we needed him. Acapulco is a beautiful city and made the drive fly by. We also spent time at Pie de la Cuesta, a gorgeous Sandy Beach with a nice surf and dotted with beach side restaurants.
I can’t stress enough how helpful Judith and Eduardo were in helping us plan our vacation – they really went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We hope to return soon!
If you are looking for PARADISE….Look NO further!!!
My partner and I of 15 years finally tied the knot, We could not be happier with the choice of vacation rentals for that celebration.
Villa Paraiso, in beautiful Acapulco, Mexico was a real treat. This Villa has it ALL.
The owners, Judith and Eduardo were amazing right from the “get go” They answered all of questions that we had before we booked. Making sure that we had safe, reliable, and air conditioned transportation from the airport to the villa (for a nominal fee) The driver was wonderful, making sure to point out all of the interesting things on the way.
When arriving to Villa Paraiso, we were immediately greated by smiling, friendly faces. These wonderful folks, Anita, Emilio and Norma would be our “Hosts” for the week. Given that our Spanish is very broken, Norma was a wonderful translator for us. We were shown the beautiful property and were given a choice of 6 bedrooms to choose from, all with AC. Of course they had already made the “Honeymoon Suite” up for us, Priceless!!
The first evening we enjoyed some beverages on the huge terrace as the sun went down. The views could not have been more perfect, watching the sun, listening to the waves crash below, beautiful calming music (of our choice, from their collection) being piped in all over, we knew we had found PARADISE.
Anita, the wonderful cook and dear lady, had dinner already for us the first night. Huge shrimp with a delicious rice dish, fresh Broccoli and green salad. HEAVEN
We would later find out that this was the “norm” for the week, we would be asked what we would like for breakfast and lunch, for the next day, each day. Emilio (Husband to Anita, Dad to Norma) would go to the markets each morning to get all of the fresh ingredients. We would pay daily based on our menu selections, which was nice, not having to plan the whole week in advance. Every meal was just as wonderful as the day before.
I think we agreed that this has to be one of the BEST panoramic views of the ocean in all of Acapulco, after all, you have 3 levels of the Villa all to yourself to enjoy it. Down one floor is a beautiful Palapa with great decor and comfy couch. This is where you find the relaxing Jacuzzi tub. HEAVEN
We were so thrilled at the OUTSTANDING service that we experienced not only by the wonderful staff, but the owners as well. We felt like we were leaving family, as we said our “Goodbye’s” This truly is a very special place, with special people. We will be back soon.
THANK YOU!!
